On the night of their 18th wedding anniversary they planned on a romantic evening but they end up using their powers to stop an arsonist who also display some superpowers of his own. Meanwhile, Daphne (Kay Panabaker) is left in charge of JJ (Jimmy Bennett) and the house but she gets talked into hosting a poker game with a bunch of students.

Stephanie's (Julie Benz) parents make a suprise visit and everyone knows that they are a bit difficult to deal with. Jim (Michael Chiklis) and the rest of the family tone down their powers so that Allan (Bruce McGill) and Barbara (Cybill Shepherd) wouldn't notice but instead it draws more attention to their strange behaviors. All the while Daphne (Kay Panabaker) tries to help by using her abilities to read her friends thoughts and identifies the thugs that has been invading homes.

Stephanie (Julie Benz) starts to doubt that JJ (Jimmy Bennett) has no powers after demonstrating knowledge about advanced mechanical engineering. Jim (Michael Chiklis) starts investigating after learning that  the recent earthquakes may have not been a natural occurance. Daphne (Kay Panabaker) runs into some acquiantances and inavertedly reads their thoughts. She now faces a difficult decision if she would do something about what she knows. Rachel Miner guest stars as "Shockwave".
