Getting a bit jealous with all the attention George is being given Jim tries to do crime work alone and ends up a accosting the wrong persons. Meanwhile, Stephanie (Julie Benz) is having sidekick problems of her own with Katie (Autumn Reeser) and JJ (Jimmy Bennett) is a bit overwhelmed when confronted by a very hot girl.

Jim (Michael Chiklis) while buying flowers for Stephanie (Julie Benz) learn that he has a new power which is being fire resistant. On the night of their 18th wedding anniversary they planned on a romantic evening but they end up using their powers to stop an arsonist who also display some superpowers of his own. Meanwhile, Daphne (Kay Panabaker) is left in charge of JJ (Jimmy Bennett) and the house but she gets talked into hosting a poker game with a bunch of students.

Stephanie (Julie Benz) starts to doubt that JJ (Jimmy Bennett) has no powers after demonstrating knowledge about advanced mechanical engineering. Jim (Michael Chiklis) starts investigating after learning that  the recent earthquakes may have not been a natural occurance. Daphne (Kay Panabaker) runs into some acquiantances and inavertedly reads their thoughts. She now faces a difficult decision if she would do something about what she knows. Rachel Miner guest stars as "Shockwave".
