Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) goes into the office in a costume and faces the challenge of not being seen in it. All the while Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) is reminded of the horrible experience he encountered as a child during Halloween. Gloria (Sofía Vergara ) is pissed at Jay (Ed O'Neill) and Manny (Rico Rodriguez) for making fun of her accent. Claire breaks down when the family doesn't share the same enthusiasm that she has for Halloween.

Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) comes homes worked up beacuse Lily's playmates have all been sent to preschool. Thinking Lily will fall behind if she doesnt start preschooling they panic and start looking for a good preschool. Claire (Julie Bowen) feels that the family is spending to much time with electronic gadgets so she gets Phil (Ty Burrell) to start a contest on who can last longest without getting online. Jay (Ed O'Neill ) thinks Gloria (Sofia Vergara) killed their neighbor's dog and tries to confirm it with Manny (Rico Rodriguez). Unable to stand not knowing, Manny and Jay check the basement if the rat shovel has been used recently.

Phil (Ty Burrell ) is asked to "Phil-in" as host of Southern California Realtors Banquet but Claire (Julie Bowen) thinks that he will make a fool of himself. Claire asks for Mitchell's (Jesse Tyler Ferguson ) help to tell Phil that he is not funny and in return she will tell Cam (Eric Stonestreet) that he should loose the bike shorts. Jay (Ed O'Neill) is forced to attend a quincea-era to prove Gloria (Sofia Vergara ) wrong. Alex (Ariel Winter ) gets coolness advise from Haley (Sarah Hyland) which turns into a disaster. Claire fullfils her end of the bargain but Mitchell chickens out. Taking matters into her own hands Claire steals Phil's index cards but all ends well when Phil rocked the banquet.
